The Louis Riel Capital Corporation (LRCC) was created to finance the start-up, acquisition and/or expansion of viable Métis and controlled small businesses based in Manitoba.
The Louis Riel Capital Corporation (LRCC) is a Manitoba Metis-owned lending institution created to finance the start-up, acquisition and/or expansion of viable Metis and controlled small businesses based in Manitoba.
Applicants must be of Metis ancestry, a corporation or other approved entity, controlled or owned by Metis people.
Type of Assistance
LRCC provides business loans, business development and counselling support in the following areas:
- Business Term Loans – LRCC provides business loans for projects that are sound, with reasonable risk factors and can be supported by a business plan. The applicant has to meet several basic requirements, in addition to specific conditions that will be identified as the application progresses.
- Business Equity Contribution Fund – This fund is aimed at entrepreneurs that need financial assistance to mobilize their business to the next step of being a reality. The contribution towards a business owned by an Aboriginal individual is up to 40 per cent of eligible costs, to a maximum value of $99,999.
- Business Advisory Services – This service provides the small business owner with independent and highly experienced advice and guidance as the business plans grow and develop. On start-up and/or purchase of a business, the development officer can work directly with clients on a one-to-one basis.
