The Communities Economic Development Fund (CEDF) is designed to provide financial assistance to start or expand small to medium-sized businesses in northern Manitoba.
The Communities Economic Development Fund (CEDF) is designed to provide financial assistance to start or expand small to medium-sized businesses and to provide loans for fishers in the commercial fishing indutry in the Province. CEDF is a provincial Crown corporation.
The objects of the Fund are to encourage the economic development of:
(a) Northern Manitoba/
(b) Aboriginal people in the province outside of the City of Winnipeg/
(c) The commercial fishing industry in Manitoba
In addressing the objectives of CEDF, business loans are available for any individuals in Northern Manitoba and for aboriginals in Southern Manitoba, with the exception of Winnipeg. Commercial fishing loans are available for anyone throughout the Province. All types of businesses, ranging from manufacturing to service industries, are eligible for assistance. The applicant must fulfill the following conditions:
- complete a viable business proposal
- have the ability and knowledge to operate a business successfully
- provide a minimum of 10 percent equity to the business financed
Administrative costs for security – the administration fee is based on the size of the loan requested.
